About Me

  Hi, thanks for stopping by.

Rainbows & Butterflies is a small UK based company run by, well, erm, just me actually! I'm Hazel and it has always been my dream to have a small online store selling all my favourite things.

My other favourite things - my gorgeous nephews!

I'm a bit of a gentle nature and animal loving soul (or an old tree hugging hippy as my sister Heather likes to call me!) and I've always been interested in all things spiritual and anything to do with mysteries and the supernatural. I've adored faeries and angels from a small girl, prefering to wriggle under the rhododendron at the bottom of my parent's garden in rural South West Scotland to play with the snails and faeries than go indoors and help my sister think up new hair styles for her "Girl's World".

With my wee big sister, Heather - thanks for the nephews, Sis!

I try to live by the old wiccan rede "And if it harms none, do as ye will" and am passionate about being green, recycling and using the least amount of energy possible. I'm attempting to grow my own vegetables this year (oh dear!) and you can keep up with how I'm doing with my blog.

Why "Rainbows And Butterflies"?

No particular reason apart from the fact they are two of my favourite things! As a wee girl I loved tiptoing up to the butterflies sitting on the flowers in the gardens. I loved the bright colours and thought they were very beautiful as they flew through the air. Years later I read that some people believe butterflies to be the souls of dead relatives who have come back to say hello. That's made me love them a little bit more.

I also spent many hours in the garden armed with my mum's plastic water filled plant spray, spraying it into the air when it was sunny and creating my own little rainbows as the sun refracted and reflected off the droplets. My friend told me a lovely story of her boyfriend proposing to her one afternoon. Delighted, she said yes immediately. For the next seven days straight, she saw a rainbow in the sky which made her feel even more sure that they would live happily ever after.

My mums garden in SW Scotland (with my washing hanging up - thanks Mum!)

Rainbows and butterflies are just two of the little things in life that we could so easily miss but that could bring us great joy when we notice them. As Walter Hagen said "Don't hurry, don't worry. You're only here for a short visit. So be sure to stop and smell the flowers"

Thanks for taking the time to get to know me. If you'd like to return the favour then feel free to send a little email about yourself to
sales@rainbowsandbutterflies.co.uk. I'd be delighted to read it.

Have a good day,

Hazel x
